I was doing some research and copied a title from a PDF file. Unfortunately, the title of the subject is written in all caps (upper case). Being a lazy writer, I opened NotePad++ to convert the UPPER CASE to Proper Case.
To my surprise, the function to convert the characters is missing. I don’t know how did it happen. I guess it was when I upgraded the NotePad++ to the latest version. I’m currently using v6.6.7
I have solved the problem by trial and error. I’ve found two methods on how to fix it after few minutes.
To solve the problem, all you have to do is to install the missing TextFX menu. How?
Here are the two methods to make the TextFX menu appear.
1. Install it again using the Plugin Manager.
Go to Plugins -> Plugin Manager -> Show Plugin Manager -> Available tab -> TextFX Characters -> Install
An warning sign will be shown withe message “Notepad++ needs to be restarted in order to complete these steps…” Just click on the YES button. If you will restart later, you will be prompted again.
99% it should work by applying no. 1, if not try the other method.
2. Download the zip file from the source at SourceForge. Extract and put its contents (it’s one file called NppTextFX.dll) inside the plugins folder where Notepad++ is installed. Do this while this while Notepad++ itself is not running. After copying the file, run Notepad++.
And it should look like this:
I hope this helps you put back NotePad++ Textfx menu back to it’s former glory 🙂
